On Feb. 13, Mr Johan Hanssens, Secretary-General of WEWIS (the Flemish Department of Work, Economy, Science, Innovation and Social Economy), and Rita Hauchecorne (WEWIS policy advisor) visited the CMS Tracker facility at IIHE, where around 40 collaborators from UAntwerpen, UGent, ULB, and VUB are working together on the assembly and qualification of approximately 1,600 new silicon sensor modules for the CMS experiment Phase-2 Tracker upgrade.

WEWIS, FWO, and FNRS have jointly invested around €12 million in what is one of the largest detector projects undertaken so far by the Belgian experimental high-energy physics groups.
