Job Description

Teaching assistant for laboratory classes and exercise sessions (approximatively 300h per year) for courses of the Physics program and research activity in one of the research areas of the Physics Department. The candidate will pursue original research with the aim of obtaining a PhD degree under the supervision of one of the professors of the department and should have already established contact with his/her prospective supervisor at the department, and join a proof thereof in his/her application file.

Required educational level

Master in Physics (or equivalent) and satisfying the criteria for acceptance in the ULB PhD program

Skills required

  • High scientific level in physics.

  • Excellent pedagogical skills.

  • Ability to work in a team of teachers.

  • Punctuality and reliability in the fulfillment of logistical tasks.

  • Proficiency in French

Courses covered

Exercises and laboratory classes in undergraduate physics courses.
Elaboration of exercises and providing written solutions.
Coordination of exercise sessions and of a team of external teaching assistants. Supervision and corrections of tests, of oral and written exams.

  • a note on the applicant’s PhD research project (max 4 pages) and the name of the PhD supervisor at ULB who agreed to supervise the candidate

Candidates who will get their diploma in 2023 may apply provided they get awarded their degree by September 8, 2023 and inform the department head as soon as they do. The short-listed candidates will be interviewed likely on the 3rd of July, and will solve an exercise of level BA1 which they will receive about 72h in advance.
