Module assembly
The silicon sensor(s), and the electronics hybrid of
the 15,851 detector modules of the CMS Silicon Tracker are glued on a
frame equipped with a kapton bias, using a gantry robot. This allows to
reach the required positionning precision of ~10 µm in x and y
coordinates and ~4 mdeg in the angle of the detector strips alignment.
The IIHE is equipped with such a
gantry being able to assemble TEC modules for rings 3, 5 and 6 (see
below). It is
foreseen to assemble ~1500 modules at the IIHE, ~1100 being already
built by the end of December 2005..

The electronic box seen in the right lower corner of the picture has
been built at the IIHE for the gantries of the Tracker collaboration.
It maps and controls the valves and switches needed for the vacuum
system maintaining the elements on the gantry plates.
